Dementia Support Nurse Job with Visa Sponsorship (COS) at NELFT NHS Trust – We are looking for a Dementia Care Specialist to join our team in Redbridge. This role focuses on delivering exceptional, person-centred care to residents living with dementia. You will conduct comprehensive assessments to understand individual needs, develop tailored care plans, and regularly review them to ensure effectiveness. A key part of the role involves implementing non-pharmacological interventions to manage challenging behaviours and enhance quality of life.

You will also lead staff training and workshops, promoting best practices and improving dementia care knowledge across the team. Collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals is essential to provide holistic support for residents.

• Knowledge of non-pharmacological interventions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant health and social care qualifications (desirable).

Essential

Essential criteria

• • Registered healthcare professional (e.g. Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker) with current professional registration • Post-registration experience including dementia care / delirium • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)

Desirable criteria

• Post‑registration qualification/training specific to dementia care • Qualification in mentoring, teaching, or supervision • Degree or Master’s level qualification in a relevant field

Experience

Essential criteria

• Proven experience conducting comprehensive assessments (cognitive, physical, psychosocial/delirium) • Experience creating and implementing person‑centred / holistic care plans • Experience monitoring residents, updating care plans in response to changing needs • Experience of leading or supervising staff (team leadership) • Experience delivering training or workshops to care home or health staff

Desirable criteria

• Experience in a care home setting with dementia residents • Experience in audit, quality improvement or service development • Experience with mentoring, coaching or performance management of staff

Essential

Essential criteria

• • Strong knowledge of dementia subtypes and their clinical presentation • Understanding of delirium: causes, recognition, management • Familiarity with NICE guidelines, NMC standards (if nurse), local dementia policies

Desirable criteria

• • Experience in policy implementation or guideline development • Awareness of research or evidence‑based practice in dementia/delirium care • Experience in non‑pharmacological interventions in dementia behaviour management
