Therapeutic Radiographer Job with Visa Sponsorship at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust – The Northamptonshire Centre for Oncology would like to hear from HCPC registered radiographers, or students due to qualify, who are ready to join our team of radiographer working in rotational posts across treatment and pre-treatment. Experience of working in a department achieving accreditation to ISO 9001:2015 is essential.
Our patients are fully supported through their Radiotherapy journey by our team of review radiographers and independent prescribers who work closely with the planning and treating teams.
To be a technically competent Radiographer capable of working in all main areas of the department (treatment, pre-treatment, and calculation room).
To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the assigned work area within the Radiotherapy department, ensuring the safe and accurate delivery or planning of radiotherapy treatment.
To supervise and provide clinical leadership to the students within the assigned work area, ensuring all staff work within Trust and departmental policies and guidelines.

To participate in the shift and on call rotas to provide a comprehensive service to the patients in line with RCR and NICE guidance.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Undertake assessment of all patients prior to the planning procedure to ensure they are fit to undertake the procedure and have all necessary support. Seek advice from senior colleagues and/ or referring to other specialists e.g. Macmillan social worker as necessary.
Ensure all patients are given information regarding the procedure and that informed consent has been obtained for all elements of the process.
Localise treatment volumes using the CT Scanner, simulator or clinical mark up as requested under the direction of the Advanced Practitioners
Administer I.V. contrast as directed by the Clinician once competence has been achieved by following the formal training programme.
Perform virtual simulation or prepare data for export into Eclipse planning system as required.

Education, Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc honours in radiotherapy or equivalent qualification as recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer, post holder must ensure they meet and comply with all HCPC standards
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Good experience of working across a range of treatment delivery and planning activities within the Radiotherapy Department as a qualified/ student radiographer
- Knowledge of IR(ME)R 2017 and responsibilities relating to own scope of practice
- Up to date knowledge of current best practice across a broad range of radiotherapy techniques
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with an accredited quality system.
