We are seeking a Programme Support Officer to join our Portfolio Management Directorate on the Future Workforce Service (FWS) Programme. About the role
As a Programme Support Officer, you’ll help keep the programme running smoothly by coordinating governance meetings, managing documents and reports, tracking risks and issues, and acting as a key contact for stakeholders. You’ll work closely with Programme and Project Managers to ensure processes and controls are in place, supporting planning, scheduling, budget monitoring, and reporting to deliver on time and to quality standards.

We’re looking for someone organised, detail-focused, confident with Microsoft Office tools (including Teams, Project and SharePoint), skilled at building strong relationships, and experienced in providing high-quality administrative or programme support.
As a Programme Support Officer on the Future Workforce Service (FWS) Programme, you will:
- Support programme delivery by coordinating activities, monitoring progress and ensuring adherence to NHSBSA project and programme frameworks.
 - Organise and manage governance meetings, including scheduling, preparing papers and tracking actions.
 - Manage programme documentation, maintaining version control, permissions and online repositories.
 - Monitor and report on risks, issues, and budgets, escalating where appropriate.
 - Assist with planning and scheduling at both programme and project level.
 - Produce and distribute key reports to support effective governance and decision making.
 - Act as a point of contact for stakeholders, gathering updates and supporting engagement across internal and external partners.
 - Provide quality assurance support, ensuring documentation and processes are audit-ready.
 - Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the programme and wider project management community.
 
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
In this role, you are accountable for
Project Delivery:
- Deliver change initiative, work package, work stream or small project in line with the NHSBSA Project Management Frameworks, and both internal and external assurance frameworks as appropriate.
Planning and Scheduling: - Assist with and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling at both programme and project level.
Business Case: - Assist with the development and approval of the Business Case.
Budget: - Assist with the monitor of programme spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets.Â
 - Ensure all expenditure is governed in accordance with NHSBSA Standing Financial Instructions and DHSC / Cabinet Office spend controls
Resources: - Schedule / manage resources working across the programme.
 - Work as part of a small team.
Stakeholder Management: - Act as the focal point for project responses to requests for information.
 - Work with stakeholders to gather updates against agreed actions, risks and issues.
Risks and Issues: - Assist with the identification of risks and issues and maintain risk and issue logs, escalating as appropriate.
 - Ensure risk management within project team is in accordance with NHSBSA Corporate Risk Management Framework.
Governance: - Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.
 - Manage progress and delivery confidence reporting in line with internal NHSBSA reporting cycles.
Quality and Assurance: - Assist with the quality review process for project products.
 - Responsible for gathering the supporting documentation required for project gateway reviews.
Administration and Document Management: - Manage programme configuration management approach ensuring robust version and access controls.Â
 - Plan and coordinate programme governance forum calendar, including Programme and Project Boards, and workshops.
 - Fulfil secretariat resource requests to capture appropriate meeting outputs as required for programme and project governance forums.
 - Quality check meeting packs and documents for circulation in advance of meetings.
