ICT End User Support Technician Job at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Trust – We are seeking two proactive ICT End User Support Technicians to join the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust’s IT team. These roles are vital in supporting desktop and portable IT equipment across main and remote sites, helping clinical and operational teams deliver high-quality patient care.
You’ll provide technical support to users, resolving faults promptly and maintaining equipment using current operating systems, deployment tools, and patch management systems. A key part of the role involves supporting devices and applications linked to the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme, working closely with teams to ensure smooth integration and minimal disruption.
Other duties include packaging and deploying applications, testing updates, maintaining service records, liaising with suppliers, and performing routine infrastructure tasks like tape changes and system monitoring. You’ll also contribute to ICT projects and broader service improvements.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- GCSE – English & Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent) along with an IT related qualification
Desirable criteria
- 4 further GCSE’s (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in a business IT support role
Desirable criteria
- Experience working on EPR implementation or optimisation projects within an NHS or healthcare environment.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent telephone manner
- Microsoft Windows 10-11 onwards and current Office 365 products.
- NHS Mail, Outlook, E-mail and Internet products.
- Basic networking knowledge
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Good working knowledge of ICT related hardware and End devices
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a Virtual Desk Top Infrastructure.
- Desk top patch management and deployment
- Application packaging and deployment using industry standard tools
